Employers Recognized for Promoting Retirement Readiness
Southwest Public Library, City of North Canton, Fayette County, City of Twinsburg, Toledo/Lucas County Public Library, and Lancaster City Schools honored

Headlines in the news each day proclaim how Americans are not saving enough for retirement. But six Ohio organizations are helping their employees with those efforts.
 
Southwest Public Library (Grove City), City of North Canton, Fayette County, Toledo/Lucas County Public Library, City of Twinsburg, and Lancaster City Schools were honored by the Ohio Deferred Compensation Board of Trustees for improving retirement education, enrollment, and savings among its employees.
 
“Employers can make a difference in the savings habits of employees when they take positive actions to encourage savings,” said Keith Overly, executive director of Ohio Deferred Compensation. “We appreciate everything these organizations do to make sure Ohio’s public employees are ready for retirement.”
 
  • Southwest Public Library saw an 800 percent increase in enrollments and a 38 percent increase in active participation. In addition, 35 percent of participants are automatically increasing their deferral each year through the SMarT Plan.
  • The City of North Canton had a 233 percent increase in enrollments and a 12 percent increase in active participants.
  • Fayette County also increased enrollments by 178 percent and saw a 41 percent increase in active participants.
  • The City of Twinsburg earned recognition for a 178 percent increase in enrollments and a 12 percent increase in active participants.
  • The Toledo/Lucas County Public Library had a 155 percent increase in enrollments and a 10 percent increase in active participants.
  • Lancaster City Schools has 17 percent of its participants automatically increasing their deferrals each year.
